Halloween Decorations on the Cheap

Written by Emily

Holla for the Dolla…Tree. The Dollar Tree. I’m throwing my hands up (in a good way) for the Dollar Tree.

I’d love to be able to say that I am a coupon maven or the queen of bargain shopping, but that would be a lie. I never buy clothes full price, though. Does that count? No?

How about my affinity for the Dollar Tree’s Halloween merchandise? Besides their pregnancy tests, their Halloween decor is their second best public service. I only recently discovered the pregnancy tests, by the way. Since I take them almost every month because I’m a lunatic, this is a fantastic find.

Back to my point. The Dollar Tree’s Halloween decor. Awesome. Now that I have little ones, holidays like Halloween are even more fun, but as a mama who should embrace a budget, I want to make an impact without a lot of money.

Here’s a little sneak peek.

HalloweenMantle

The crows are my fav, and my kids love finding them all over the house.

ratcutouts

Martha Stewart has a line of Halloween cut-outs. They’re in the same shapes and on a sturdier card stock, but the Dollar Tree has these fantastic rats and bats in packs of 15 for a fraction of the price. A dollar. One dollar. They’re thinner, but totally worth it.

Kncoker

The knocker was Noah’s choice. I’m not into gruesome decor, but nestled into the wreath, this face is kind of great.

Not bad, right? Just call me Femme Frugal. And if you can’t find me, I’ll be at the Dollar Tree stocking up on pregnancy tests.

Happy Hauntings!

No, Wha! I just always think I am! I’m neurotic about it! 🙂

Adorable! I’m a big fan of the Dollar Tree too. And I had no idea they sold preggo tests…I really do not want anymore littles, so I’ve been known to be a bit neurotic too. In fact, I still have another week before my period but I keep freaking that I might be pregnant. 😉 good times

Seriously Kerry? You know that if that happens you’d have to learn preggo yoga… and then you’d totally fall over and then I’d really laugh! 🙂

Yes, seriously, do I seem like the type that has the patience to handle more than 2 kids? I’m flattered if you think so. And I’m so glad the idea of me doing pregnant yoga entertains you Kate 😉 but in fact I did do preggo yoga when I was Ryder was in my belly and I actually didn’t fall over. I was so hormonal though that I did cry a couple times after a good class. but that really is nothing new..i think I did that a couple of weeks ago too. haha

Okay – I’ve heard that the Dollar Tree pregnancy tests are awesome! Very accurate. And thank goodness I will not be buying one anytime soon!

I got a lot of my decorations from the Dollar Tree! I love that place! Next on my list is to pick up the severed hand and put in in my planter on the porch! 🙂 I haven’t seen the vulture or the cut outs… I’ll have to look, cause those are Awesome!! I love how you decorated! And I love the scary door knocker! Yay for Halloween!

Kate! I have to tell you that I was thinking about you the whole time I was preparing this post! I don’t even know you in real life, but you were my inspiration 🙂 I hoped it would meet your approval! 🙂 I did get the vulture last year. I should I have said that, but it shows that the things last. Noah wanted the severed foot and hand for our planters in the back yard, but we settled for another skeleton that we broke apart and some foam tombstones. Happy Halloween, Kate!

yay!!! I love when I inspire others – that just fills my soul up!! Last year I took a full size skeleton and broke it apart and turned it into a door wreath. I pulled it out this year and the hot glue didn’t make it… LOL, so I pulled it apart and tossed the hot glue globs and dumped him in the brass wood holder by my fireplace… So I’m all about taking skeletons apart and using them in other ways!
Happy Halloween Emily! I’m so excited about it this year – you’ve been a great partner in crime this season!! 🙂
