Welcome to GirlAlwaysInterrupted.com! Think of this as the housewarming party! I’ll show you the new digs and introduce you to a few people in just a minute, but please help yourself to a drink and some snacks. This is your cue to treat yourself to your favorite beverage in your fanciest glass and then smuggle some snacks from their hiding place in the depths of the pantry where the kids can’t get them. If you’re on your mobile, this would be a great time to hit up the nearest drive-thru.
Imagine I made these for you:
Or whatever snazzy app you just pinned.
This change has been a long time coming. While I’m sad to let go of the fourtuitous name because it was my blogging beginning, it just didn’t feel right without the other three original writers: Amelia, Cathy and Rose. Our four was no more.
Girl, Always Interrupted is a better fit since I can’t remember the last time I actually finished a conversation. Blogging has been, for me, what I meant to say, the words I would have said if someone didn’t need me “right this second, Mommy right now!”, and the thoughts I had when I was pushing Sylvie on the swing in an otherwise empty playground. Blogging is the rest of the conversation.
And I think Michelle agrees. We haven’t finished a phone call in at least nine years.
Now, let’s get this party started.
The fact that I am even here with all of the fourtuitous content is because of Janine Huldie at J9 Designs. She is nothing short of a miracle worker and the model of outstanding customer service. She answered all of my questions, emailed me back before I even walked away from my computer, and kept me informed every step of the way. Without her, Girl, Always Interrupted would have been a word document on a computer screen with me crying and cursing technology. Because it’s always technology and never the user.
Girl, Always Interrupted has a logo: my profile and huge open mouth. A big thank you to Thaddeus Pasierb for the uncanny likeness without the bags or wrinkles. He is good and much cheaper than plastic surgery. Click my face below to get to his website. You’ll find fantastic examples of his work and his contact information.
No housewarming party would be complete without mingling. But if your palms are getting sweaty just thinking about making small talk, this is so much easier. There are no awkward silences or uncomfortable conversations.
I want to introduce you to my friends, the bloggers who’ve shared our work, helped us grow, shown us love and inspired us.
Did That Just Happen–Kate reads and comments so regularly that I feel like we’re best friends. She is an amazing support.
Laugh Lines–Go there. Laugh. Go back again!
Do You Read Me?–Carisa and I have talked on the phone, and I think I might love her.
All the Everydays–Jean was the first person I didn’t know, who complimented my writing and tweeted it to her followers. I’ve had a crush on her ever since.
Scary Mommy–Jill Smokler gave me my first “thanks but no thanks” and then published me four times. She has created a forum like no other for women to share fully and freely without judgement.
The Social Butterfly Mom–Erin is thoughtful and supportive, clever and fun. She was my very first blogging buddy. I like her so very much!
Friendly Fairytales–Brenda was one of our first followers. Her blog is like a decadent piece of candy. You’ll want to tuck yourself away and savor it.
Judah First–Always a careful reader and a thoughtful commenter. Check her out!
Winding Road–Kind, supportive and lovely.
Vintage This Re-Purpose That–Inspiration for your home and your soul.
Thank you for coming, everyone. I hope you met someone new and saved their digits. Let’s raise our glasses to new beginnings!
Please stop by again and again! Michelle and I will keep the light on and the door open.
