Anniversary Cheer

Written by Rose

2-4-6-8, my husband is usually so great

But when it comes to love and romance

Lately, he’s in the “been there, done that” trance

Last night I get a card and bouquet

Tossed at me, while words did say

“Here.  I’m late.  Gotta go.

Late for soccer, dontcha know.”

Now, I don’t need fancy, I don’t expect bliss;

But I long for delivery with a kiss,

Robert Redford to wash my hair,

Or John Cusack with boom box high in the air.

No matter the schedule, no matter the plan

Take a lesson from Bob and John, my darling man.

    Sometimes life gets in the way, doesn’t it? This light-hearted poem reminds me to slow down and really see and listen to the people I am trying to entertain and support and love each day…not just my husband or my children, but my parents and friends, too.
